Disaster Grantmaking

As when every natural disaster strikes, we are saddened by the destruction that Typhoon Haiyan has caused. Philanthropy continues to play an important role in disaster relief, but because of the quick response time needed, strategy doesn't always take priority. We thought we'd share some resources on disaster philanthropy to help you in thinking through possible responses to this event:

Best Practices in Disaster Grantmaking: Lessons from the Gulf Coast - Philanthropy New York (previously NYRAG) 2008

Companies are mobilizing their expertise, capabilities, and community resources to assist with the response to Typhoon Haiyan. Business pledges of over $9.6 million have been announced in support of recovery efforts. In addition, many organizations including GlobalGiving have set up funds to support relief and recovery efforts in the affected areas.
